Question: How quickly will I get my IRS Tax Refund?
Answer: IRS issues most refunds within 21 calendar days if you e-filed your tax return. if you paper filed (mailed) your tax return, expect additional 2-3 week processing time.
Most States issues refunds within 30 calendar days if you e-filed your tax return. Generally, state refunds take slightly longer than the Federal refunds.
Each year, people complain about filing their taxes and dreading to get the paperworks ready. But did you know that 8 out of 10 Americans will get tax refunds? The average tax refund is roughly $2,800, according to the most recent IRS data.
For low income tax filers, a large portion of their refund is due to the Earned Income Credit (EIC Credit) and child tax credit.
For high income tax filers, a large portion of their refund is due to mortgage interest, real estate taxes and charitable contributions that make them eligible for more tax breaks.
Are you expecting to get a refund this year?
The first day to file for your taxes is always on the first day of the following new year. For example, the first day to file your 2014 taxes will be on January 1, 2015. Even if you paper file your taxes on the first day, IRS will not be ready to accept the tax return.
Each year, IRS sets a date when they accept and process the tax return. The first day that IRS will accept and process the 2014 tax return will be on January 20, 2015. It generally takes about 2-4 weeks to receive the tax refund after you have e-filed your tax return. Paper tax return generally takes about 4 weeks longer to be processed.
